Are your prices
competitive?
Yes. Area prices are constantly checked
to ensure you will receive exceptional value for your money.
Many larger hotels are
now antiquated in standards in comparison with their smaller
counterparts. Built to cater for bygone days and the large influx
of British holidaymakers that headed for the seaside, cheap
air travel and changing trends have seen many struggle for survival
as changing trends, declining trade, overheads, and high staffing
costs have contributed with many, to lack of investment and
fallen standards. High pricing, poor service, worn furnishings
and carpets, old decoration and damp are not standards one wishes
to encounter when looking forward to a deserved holiday.
Smaller hotels have provided
an attractive alternative in recent years. Although not able
to provide 24 hour service as some of our larger counterparts,
18 hours daily is usually sufficient for most visitors and quality
standards more easily maintained. Guests are treated as individuals,
rather than numbers and a more personal approach given.
Continued investment has
contributed to the present 4 diamond silver accolade rating.
Spacious bedrooms, attractive decor, and a large range of facilities
have been provided for your comfort. Whilst I am proud to have
achieved this
high quality distinction, what really matters, is the fact guests
return. This simple fact, speaks more than a thousand words
or awards. Let our own clientele be the judge. On pricing and
quality, high numbers of repeat bookings and recommendations
convey the message, that guests are more than happy This is
a far higher compliment and the one most important.
Are your licensed?
Yes, with a full license and a separate,
well stocked bar.
What is your
rating?
Consistently earning a four diamond Silver
accolade rating from the English Tourism Council.
Are there things to do
nearby?
Yes. The hotel is centrally located,
so you can leave the car and walk to most attractions, including
the beach.
Is the accommodation
en-suite?
Yes, All rooms are en-suite. Showers that provide power and
adjustable temperature controls allow constant hot water any
time of day or night. Complimentary soaps, shampoos, shower
caps, hand and bath towels are provided. Purpose built, all
en-suites are of exacting high standard with separate shower
cubicles, WC and hand wash basin. Electric shaver points, and
illuminated wash basin mirror lighting. Room service daily provides
fresh laundered linen, towels and shower mats, bathroom and
room tidies to ensure total guest comfort and hygiene throughout
your stay. Door handle Do not disturb notices can be
displayed if you do not require this daily service or wish not
to be disturbed. Maid service commences daily after breakfast
at 10 am.
At what time can we
check in, and what time do we have to depart?
All rooms have to be thoroughly stripped, cleaned, vacuumed
and serviced after each guest departure. Saturdays through summer
season being the most popular arrival and departure day, usually
means a full house strip. Being our busiest day, to allow sufficient
time to enable this work to be completed thoroughly, guests
are requested to check out by 10am and no later than 10.30am.
New arrivals will then be able to check in after 2pm. Whilst
every endeavour is made to have all rooms available for incoming
guests by 12.45pm,
please be aware of our official checking in time policy to cover
for any sickness or unavoidable delays we may encounter. By
prior arrangement, guests who have to contend with train or
bus timetables, are welcome to leave luggage if earlier arrival
is unavoidable, but will not have access to rooms until services
are completed. Likewise on departure, luggage may be left for
safe keeping, if departure times for trains or coaches are not
till later in the day and they wish to leave for later collection.
This ensures room service can commence on schedule and new arrivals
can expect the minimum of delay. Visitors arriving by car are
requested to time arrivals and keep to checking in times. With
regret, early arrivals cannot be dealt with any sooner until
guests have departed. and sufficient time allowed for room preparation.
This ensures the minimum of delay for all. For arrivals late
evening, please advise if after 9pm.
Are
there family rooms and provision for children?
Yes, Family rooms sleep up to 2 adult and 2 children. Again,
all en-suite. One double bed and 2 children's bunk beds. Bunks
are provided with safety rails and are designed with child safety
in mind. Spacious accommodation has been provided to cater for
families with young children sharing at reduced rates.
Parking?
Yes, off road parking facilities for all our guests
Is there
groundfloor en-suite accommodation?
Yes. Due to many requests, we now have one ground floor double
/ twin room created for visitors who have mobility difficulties
and cannot manage stairs.
Are
there no-smoking rooms?
All rooms are non smoking. If you are a smoker, you can smoke in the bar area or in the front garden.
Do we accept pets?
And pets usually mean dogs. We have not had any requests from
visitors to bring hamsters, rabbits, cats, budgies mice or parrots
as yet, so we aim this answer specifically with dogs in mind.
Whilst pet lovers, I have to keep in mind that we deal with
a mixture of visitors, some who may have allergies. Guide dogs
for the blind can be accepted by prior arrangement, but with
regret we do not cater for pets in general.
Do we have own keys
access?
Yes.

and bus stations?
Yes, although situated by the seafront. Coach and rail stations
in the town centre are only a 4 to 5 min walk and the hotel
is convenient for both.

for special needs or vegetarians?
Yes, wherever possible. Please contact to discuss your requirements.

outside/ inside facilities for leisure?

golf and leisure complexes. Golf, swimming pool, sauna, gym,
beauty salon, solarium are available at 25% discounted rates

they wish to take advantage of this facility.

Indoors, are a host of pastimes, cards, dominoes, monopoly,
scrabble, chess, draughts, compendium games sets, Nintendo Gamecube
with over 20 games and a separate TV lounge. Ideally positioned
for Paignton seafront, visitors have a large choice of easy
accessible facilities on hand close to the hotel for leisure,
both day and night.
In the dining
room, do you have separate tables?
Yes, tables are arranged for individual room occupancy, singles,
doubles, treble and tables for four.
Do you have a lift?
No, being a smaller friendly hotel, accommodation is on two floors, and
guests find this easily accessible. Provision has been made for ground
floor accommodation if guests have mobility problems and can be
arranged on booking.
What payment methods
do you accept?
We accept Visa, Delta, MasterCard, Cheques covered with bankers
guarantee card and cash. Cheques not covered by guarantee card
or over floor limit accepted, provided submitted 4 days prior
to departure and allowed to clear.
What guarantees
do I have on standards?
Many. The reason for participating in The English Tourism Council
scheme and allowing random inspection is to assure visitors
of the level of quality standards to be found. This is the way
forward to give guarantees in all areas on comfort, quality
of surroundings, cleanliness, hospitality and good food. All
essential ingredients for an enjoyable visit.
The main brochure for the
English Riviera, The Riviera Guide, has now taken the decision
not to accept advertisements for accommodation from the year
2002, unless accommodation has passed stringent inspection and
been assessed by either the tourist board, now English Tourism
Council ETC, the AA or RAC. Inspection only by these three organisations
will be considered. Establishments not willing to participate
or failing the minimum grade, will not be able to advertise
there property in the official Torbay guide from this date.
A harmonised standard has
now been created and the same minimum standards agreed by all
rating organizations in an effort to encourage accommodation
providers to raise standards by participation in this scheme, and be able to work towards higher quality levels.
Whilst being honoured with
a 4 diamond Silver accolade assessment and more recently, from
2002, a coveted silver award at this level, much investment
and hard work has been needed on our own part, to attain this
high level, and allows us to display this symbol as a quality
assurance for prospective guests. Commitment to quality ensures
our guests feel comfortable and return.
A simple clause which
states 5 diamond level has to provide antique furnishings, or
quality high class reproduction furniture throughout, means
we will never attain this highest level, as this is not our
intended market and more fitting to stately homes.
I shall however
continue to maintain and improve wherever possible that already
achieved, and provide the highest levels possible, for the comfort
and enjoyment of your visit.
